Pain de Mie

One of my favorite Christmas gifts from John this year was a new bread pan. With the help of our daughter Jesseka, who purchased it, boxed it up and had it shipped to us, I now have this… super wonderful pan. It’s also known as a ‘pullman bread pan’. It’s used to make a traditional white sandwich bread with a light crust; perfect for slicing.  You can buy this pan through my blog following this link: http://astore.amazon.com/pearsprogr-20/detail/B002UNMZPI

I made my 1st loaf and here are the photos below:

This is a sort of cake-like bread. It comes out of the pan in a rectangular shape that would be flat on all 4 sides if the dough rose just a bit more or if there was just a tiny bit more dough. Even though it’s completely baked, the crust is quite thin and really not like a typical bread crust at all. It toasts very well and I ate it with home-made plum jam and it was great. It would probably make really great french toast. I heartily recommend it…

I like the new blog look! The paper background gives a nice contrast and also still allows the print and pictures to show up.
